Executor of an Estate

The personal representative (or executor) named in an individual’s last will and testament, and acting under court supervision, is responsible for settling the estate of a deceased person. Due to the complexity of these responsibilities and the challenges that often arise from naming family members as executors, we offer this service.

The Guaranty Bank Trust Department, as executor, provides the following services for an estate:

  • Collection of estate assets, including insurance proceeds payable to estate
  • Obtain valuations for estate assets
  • Preparation of inventory of estate assets
  • Payment of outstanding debts, taxes and liabilities
  • Preparation of and gathering of information for federal and state income tax returns
  • Preparation of final accounting and plan of distribution
  • Distribution of assets to beneficiaries pursuant to the terms of the will and in accordance with all legal requirements
